Why didn’t Ukraine become energy self-sufficient state during 26 years

Today in Ukraine, everyone asks: how did it happen that Russia once again tries to freeze us by turning off the gas? After all, in four years we have performed diversification and buy only European gas, and, in general, we have achieved such success in building energy independence. Let me briefly explain you what is our problem.
