The Palestinian authorities in the city of Gaza decided to direct the flow of sewage water directly to the Mediterranean Sea. All beaches are closed.
The reason for this step was an acute shortage of fuel, without which water treatment stations couldn’t work. The Chairman of the municipality of the Gaza Strip Nizar Hijazi reported that untreated sewage water would be discharged into the sea. Besides, the authorities of the city announced the state of emergency for 50 days due to the catastrophic situation with the shortage of energy carriers.
