TUG OF WAR: FIDESZ SUSPENDED ITS MEMBERSHIP IN THE EUROPEAN PEOPLE’S PARTY OR VICE VERSA?

On March 20, the membership of the leading political party of Hungary Fidesz in the EPP was suspended. Pro-government media and Viktor Orbán himself claim that it was a voluntary initiative of Fidesz. Some representatives of the government say that everything happened with the consent of the parties. The EPP itself announced an independent decision to suspend the membership of Fidesz. However, it seems that each side is trying to spread its version of events.
