HACKERS ATTACKED GERMANY: WHAT HAPPENED?

The top news of last week in Europe was the scandal surrounding a large-scale hacker attack, which ended with the theft of personal data of hundreds of German politicians. It became an informational bomb for Germany. Politicians from different sides press for investigation, and the publication of data could harm thousands of people.

The cyber attack showed that even seemingly perfect and developed cyber-protection systems in the EU do not save from possible theft of data sensitive for the country by intruders (or foreign intelligence services). Ukraine should learn a salutary lesson from this situation: we need to develop own systems for protecting databases and information systems of critical infrastructure. Cyberwar can come to Ukraine unexpectedly, and we will not be ready for it. That makes us a target for anyone who would want to strike.
