THE ELECTRICITY MARKET REFORM WILL BECOME A DRIVER OF ECONOMIC GROWTH

The creation of the electricity market and the introduction of market prices is a necessary but unpleasant step for Ukrainians due to the increase of electricity tariffs. However, this politically unpopular decision is actually a driver of significant economic progress – experts of the Ukrainian Institute for the Future explained.

Firstly, this reform will give a significant economic growth – more than $ 5 billion GDP annually. And additional budget revenues (more than $ 12 billion) during 2019-2030.

Secondly, the changes will provide a significant incentive for investment in the sector. During 2019-2030, this amount may exceed $ 38 billion.

Investment, in its turn, means upgrading capacities. This will directly affect the quality of service.
