THE ATTACK ON ACTIVISTS, OR BACK TO THE 90S

Over the past 10 months (from November 2017 to September 2018) there were 14 attacks on various anti-corruption activists in Ukraine. 5 of them happened in the period from July 31 to September 5. Half of the list are failed attempts or simply threats with the subsequent use of force. The other half – attempts, unfortunately, successful.

The two common threads that ties all these incidents (except the totally inadequate actions of law enforcement agencies):

– all victims are activists that somehow fight against corruption schemes and annoy ” powers-that-be”

– methods of influence. They are always, in all these cases, the same.
