What Putin hopes for, supporting the introduction of UN peacekeepers in Donbas

On September 5 the Russian President Volodymyr Putin made a statement on the possibility of introduction of a peacekeeping contingent in Donbas. Some analysts and politicians saw this as the Kremlin’s desperation, as it is forced to look for ways to finish the war, some of them said about an intended distortion of the very idea of “peacekeepers”. In my opinion, this statement can be the beginning of a very unpleasant combination for Ukraine.
