Russian President Volodymyr Putin for the first time held talks with the leaders of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk Republics and discussed with them the exchange of prisoners with the Ukrainian authorities. Thus, Putin wants to raise the status of leaders of the “Republics” and play the role of peacekeeper on the eve of the Presidential elections.
