The deployment of peacekeepers in the Donbas and, at least, a ceasefire would be beneficial both for Ukraine in general and for those who are in power today. Of course, the fact of an existing peacekeeping mission can be used in a political struggle. And the deployment of peacekeepers before the presidential and parliamentary elections can give additional points to the president or to political parties in Parliament. However, speaking about this exclusively from the point of “future elections” is an obvious manipulation. Nevertheless, discussions about peacekeepers go on for a long time: the idea of deployment of peacekeepers was first announced by President Poroshenko, if I am not mistaken, in 2015. After that, the initiative was seized by Russia – Putin came up with his concept.
