A milestone event of this week was the first visit of the US Secretary of State to Hungary for the last 8 years. The rapprochement with the United States took place with the coming of Donald Trump to power: both states share the opinions on a number of international political issues. Last Wednesday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó also visited Washington. The topics of reducing dependence on Russian gas, joint efforts in the fight against ISIS and cooperation within NATO were discussed during the meeting. Hungary does not forget to care about regional leadership – Viktor Orban met with the Prime Ministers of the Visegrad Group and Chancellor Angela Merkel. Orban reiterates that these countries will be the driving force of the European Union in the future. But it seems that there are problems in relations with Ukrainians again. Hungary opened 370 cases against Ukrainians who received passports illegally: without command of Hungarian language and in cases when exams were passed by stalking horses.
